Blog2Print: Blog in a book!

I discovered the coolest thing! Blog2Print takes your whole blog and prints it in a book! If you're like me, the internet freaks you out a little... I would not be shocked if the whole thing just shuts down one day and we lose everything. Kinda silly, I know, but I think about all the photos and words I have put out on the internet and it makes me sad to think about losing it all. So, my new thing is getting everything printed out so I'll at least have it in paper form! They are thick and quality and I love them!

Aside from being afraid of the internet - ha - it's just so nice to have my blog in a book for people (like my mom and Gram, who don't "do computers") to look through. Although they are little pricey, I think it's worth it! I printed 2 volumes (2008-2009 and 2010-2011).

On another note, everything that could go wrong has for us this week... sickness, health scares, an extended family member died... I am feeling exhausted and a little behind with all my commissioned work! Hopefully things will simmer down soon and I'll get back in the swing of things.

{Your Space} Baby A's New Beginnings

Last fall I painted this custom nursery art as a surprise for a new dad-to-be from mom-to-be. Well, their baby girl arrived on Christmas Day and they just recently did this amazing photo shoot with her in her new room...

I absolutely love the color combination of teal, purple and citrus green in this baby's nursery. And, I cannot get over that sweet little bundle in the bucket! I mean, come on! So, so precious. Welcome to the world, Baby A!

ABCs Sneak Peek

I've started working on a fun piece of kid's art and just thought I'd give you a little peek. This is only the first layer, as I plan on adding a ton more letters and colors, and a few other goodies. Hoping to finish it in the next week or so - I'll keep you posted.

This month, my friend Jessica Mingo is working on her first illustrated children's book! The story circulates around a mouse character that hosts a tea party for the neighborhood animals. "Hi I'm Jessica Mingo, and I am attempting to write and illustrate my first children's book! I still have to pick a title, finish writing, and finish the pictures, so I have a long way to go, but it's exciting. I've always wanted to do a children's book since I was 6 years old, so in a way, this is long overdue. I feel as though the pictures should do most of the "talking" in a children's book. There needs to be creativity, detail, and the characters need to have expressions and personalities to captivate the attention of a squirmy reader, (hehe). I remember looking at the pictures of my books for hours, wishing I was there with the characters sitting and having tea, or running wild in a field with my animal friends. I want my book to give the same sensation to children, that I had when I was a kid. I will never forget my favorite illustrations from books for as long as I live. I'm not like most people, I don't usually remember what I read, but I remember what I saw."

It is raining here today and that makes me so happy. It reminds me of Seattle, which I miss so much. And it's just cozy! We're sorta of laying low, getting things done and lounging around here.

Some of my art was highlighted to today over at House on 31 Main! Apparently they found me through the brand new etsy shop. Who knew something like that would happen so fast? Fun! It's a blog for mommies so check it out if you get a chance.

I'm currently working on some fun kids art, a large scale family rules painting, and a couple other commissioned verses - I will share them in the next couple of weeks.

Original Painting: I am the gate

This commissioned painting has some sweet meaning to it. A friend's mother passed away recently and this gold picture of Jesus was on her mother's dresser mirror for as long as she can remember. She wanted it mounted alongside this verse to display at her mother's memorial. What an honor to do a piece with so much weight behind it!

Goodness. We've had a rough couple of days with our daughter (she MUST be teething) so I feel like I'm not getting too much accomplished around here. Hoping to get a few things done today and looking forward to a relaxing weekend! One for the Other

This little painting was commissioned for a bride-to-be who is getting married in the spring. I'm not actually sure where the saying came from, but it's sweet. If you know anything about Ventura, you know the scene is a famous landmark around here called "Two Trees" - imagine that! I really enjoyed painting this because it was super simple but still has some movement and rich colors. Nothing too complicated.

I'm excited to share two other new paintings this week... both pretty different styles than what I typically do, so that's sorta fun. Hope you all are having a great week so far.

I painted this commissioned piece quite a while ago for a girl who planned to give it to her sister who lives in the Philippines. She recently sent me a picture of it in her sister's home. Fun to see it in it's new space!

I feel like I'm still trying to recover from all the craziness of December, but now it's full speed ahead into this new year! I've got a growing list of commissioned work that I am excited to start working on, so hopefully you will have more art to look at soon.

2011 in review

Whew. I can't believe another year has begun. Before I get started with it I wanted to look back at the last year...

I kinda forget how much art I do until I look back - that's fun! 2011 brought new greeting cards, craft fairs, the {Your Space} blog posts and some shout outs. I'm looking forward to more of all that in this coming year!

While I rarely ever make New Years Resolutions I do certainly want to set goals and accomplish some things in 2012. Most of them are personal, marriage and family oriented but I am excited for what is in the works for my art: a new blog makeover (coming SO soon), a running list of commissioned paintings, a couple of art/craft shows for the year, and possible collaboration with my photographer husband. Things always ebb and flow and of course I don't always manage to get everything done or keep up with this blog, but I'm looking forward to whatever the year brings. Thanks for reading, friends!

The Gift of Clean Water

My friend Molly (whom I gave a shout out to last week) blogged a while back about Advent Conspiracy and I was inspired! She gave out free clean water tags for anyone who wanted to donate to the cause for Christmas. I loved it so much that I got a few tags and gave money in honor of my family members this year.

I must say, those packages look mighty cute with those tags on them! I'm pretty sure you can give all year, so if you are interested in giving clean water to those in need, check out the Advent Conspiracy website!

Shout Out: Specs and Wings

Last week I got a fabulous box in the mail from my sweet friend Molly over at Specs and Wings! I've been eyeing this adorable mustard flower headband for a while now, and then she posted these incredibly cute hand sewn mittens and I couldn't resist a little art trade (in exchange, she got some of my new greeting cards). I wore the headband to church on Sunday and got SO many compliments. I also wore the mittens out the other night!

(Don't mind the frizz - I ran out of hair gel - whoops!)

Commission: A Future and A Hope

This is the painting I finished up last week: A beach scene for someone who lives in Alaska! I am never too excited about "realistic" paintings, because they don't look realistic at all, but rather, cartoon-ish... but the buyer was very excited about what I came up with so that is all that matters.

I am working on just a couple other things to finish up before Christmas - hopefully I will be able to share with you soon. I also have a few exciting things in the works for the beginning of the year (including a blog makeover, new post ideas and some brand new paintings). Stay tuned!

Last night was so fun and went so well! I loved getting to visit with the other vendors and check out all the amazing goods. I wanted so many things, but I resisted. 2 of my paintings found new homes and I sold a bunch of greeting cards as well. Thanks to all who came out! I'm looking forward to doing more events in the future.

We're getting ready for Christmas around here with our advent calendar from Naptime Diaries. It's cuter than I even imagined! While we're all sorta sick around here, I'm still trying to find some fun low-key activities for us to do as a family.

In the meantime, I've been hearing a lot about the Advent Conspiracy, having lots of conversations about greed, and thinking a lot about the true meaning on Christmas. I would love to get back to the basics this year.

I even went to the doctor in hopes of getting some meds but nope, just another virus that has to run its course! Sheesh. A New Thing

My sophomore year in college, one of my best friends passed this verse onto me and I've loved it ever since! This is just a simple brown and gold painting - nothing fancy.

Today I'm shipping out some greeting card orders and working on checking some other things off of my to-do list! I'm thankful for my health and the ability to run my errands (I'm thinking a lot about friends I have who aren't well enough to do simple tasks). What are you thankful for this week?

Tree Greeting Cards

Yeay! On Saturday I received such a fun box at my door! My tree greeting cards arrived and I could not be happier with them. I really just want to put all of my paintings on greeting cards, postcards and prints. They look so fabulous and it's so fun to have more "products." I still don't want to just create something so that people buy it (I want it to have deeper meaning that just income) but I feel like these cards are in line with that. So fun.

Falling for you (again and again)

I guess I should share all my fall paintings quickly before it's December and we've all moved on to winter! I made this painting in a larger size canvas than the original 5x7. I believe this one is 11x14.

What are you up to this weekend? My poor family is sick now as well so we will be laying low and working on getting back to health. I might also make my first and only batch of pumpkin chocolate chip cookies for the season. We'll see. Enjoy the weekend!

Gosh, I'm still sick! What's going on around here? I had to miss out on painting for the worship night last night and I was so sad. The last few nights I've gone to bed thinking I'll feel better in the morning, but every morning I wake up STILL under the weather. Daniel has been so wonderful to let me rest - he's been taking Ellie on errands and getting her out of the house. Unfortunately she woke up sick this morning too, poor thing, so it looks like we'll be laying low a little bit longer. Sigh.

Anyway, this is another painting I worked on before the craft fair. Inspired by my friend Krysta, this verse was stuck in my head for awhile until I could finally get it down on canvas. This is one of those paintings I'd love to keep for myself - but I just can't keep them all!

I've got a few other new fun things in the works, so hopefully I will feel well enough to really get going on them soon!

Hey. The bad news is, I am super sick, BUT the good news is I am, thankfully, in bed today. My sweet husband has taken over and told me to just rest. Gotta love him. I have a ton of new art to share though, so I thought I'd share this one today. I've been trying to work on more trees and this one was inspired by the fall (and ahem, Felicity).

Also, I'm also going to start tagging the art that is for sale for those of you who want to know what is available. I'm sloooowly but surely working towards an etsy shop - which will make things much easier eventually. For now, they will be tagged in each post and I will start posting them (with sizes, prices, etc) in the side bar as well.

Nursery Art: Baby A

A few weeks ago I was commissioned to make a piece of art for a baby girl's nursery. The new dad-to-be has this saying"Exciting new beginnings, changes life forever" and the new mama-to-be wanted to surprise him with this! I loved the idea and the challenge of using a smaller phrase on a bigger canvas. And I LOVE the color choices. Hopefully they will share pictures of the completed nursery with us soon!

You guys, guess what? I've been asked to do some LIVE painting at Community Bible Church this Wednesday night. I've always loved the idea... I have seen and love Scott Erikson's live painting projects. I've always wanted to try it, but I've never had the opportunity! It's a bit intimidating but I'm super excited to try. The craft fair was SO much fun! I cannot tell you how encouraged I was to get feedback on my paintings and new greeting cards. It reminded me of why I do all this in the first place. I want to create things that people relate to and are moved by... it was encouraging to be told that's still true! Jessica Mingo Designs did a fabulous job planning and hosting and all the vendors helped create such a great event. So much fun.

Wow - thank you SO much for the support about the greeting cards. If I had known they would be such a hit I would have made them a long time ago! HA. I'm already working on some new orders and some tree greeting cards as well. I'm so excited to be at the craft fair this weekend... this whole process makes me want to do things like this more often We shall see!

In the spirit of fall, trees, and popular request, I've done a few more fall tree pieces. They will be included in the tree greeting cards but there are original paintings as well. This one was inspired by the original "Falling for You" painting that seems to be so well loved.

Today I am running around town to get a few more things for the craft fair and I'm hoping to finish up another painting! Lots to do...

New Creation

I've been working on some new paintings. This one reminds me of a couple paintings I did a while back. I've actually done another one like it too, so I'll share that soon as well.

Since acrylic paint sort of turns into plastic after it dries, I just peel it off of my pallette and glue it onto canvas. There is just something about the way all the paint comes together - I would never be able to accomplish the look with just a brush so I love how it turns out each time I try it.

We're headed to a Christmas Boutique Extravaganza this morning... already! I guess Christmas will be here before I know it so I better get into the spirit early. Have a good weekend!

Sneak Peek: Nursery Art

Whoa - we've been busy! We went to Seattle last week just to visit friends that we miss and hang out in a city we love. It was a wonderful trip! You really can't beat Seattle in the fall. it was lovely, crisp, cool and rainy. Loved it. Just a nice little break at our home away from home.

Now we're back and getting into the swing of things. I've been working on a commissioned painting and just wanted to give you a little peek. I'm also painting and prepping for the arts and crafts fair next weekend - make sure to check it out if you are in the area!

Whoops. There I go again forgetting to blog here. Things have been just a bit busy around though. Daniel was out of state last week so I was full time single mom for a bit - we had some fun girl time, lots of down time, and spent quite a few meals with my mom and sister.

Daniel got back Sunday and we were SO glad to have him back. 8 days without your husband and Daddy is way too long! We've been having lots of family time since he returned. Monday was our 3rd anniversary so we got to celebrate with a fun date night out!

And, today is Ellie's 1st birthday!

I can't even tell you how fast that year was! Gosh, she is SUCH a joy and I'm so happy to celebrate her today! We are having a simple dinner with just family (JUST family is 25 people. HA!). Hope you all are doing well.

Been painting quite a bit this weekend (while watching Felicity on netflix - hello 1998)! I'm thinking a lot about new prints and need to just decide what to print pretty soon. My friend had her sweet baby boy back in August and I painted this for his room. Here it is all set up above their adorable orange chair. The room is a mix of blues, browns, oranges and greens along with a small animal theme. I am really pleased to see that the painting works so well in the space!

What are you up to this weekend? My little brother is coming home so we are having a BBQ tomorrow and probably some pool time (since it's still 70 degrees outside the kiddos still go for it)! I'm hoping to make some new paintings and get some organizing done as well. Happy weekend!

"Art is Not Dead"

I'm exited to be part of a local arts and crafts show in November! The was began with a discussion about how the world seems to have lost the need for the simplicity of art.

I'm looking forward to sharing the space with lots of other talented artists, crafters, photographers and musicians. This painting is the centerpiece of an adorable gallery wall at my friend Holly's house! I believe it is in the family room, and while you can't see the entire space, you can understand the look they are going for (and that a gallery wall like this could work in any room, really)! I love the mix of colors, frames, photos and art - it has a very eclectic feel.

Home Sweet Home

Things have been a little quite around here... but not really much more than usual since posting often is obviously not my strong point. Ha. Anyway, we had to make a last minute trip to Ohio last week because Daniel's step grandpa passed away. It was a sad reason to get out there, but we had a great time with family and dear friends. We even celebrated Ellie's first birthday with them a little early.

We are getting settled back in at home and I've got a few things to share soon -- some new art and details about an arts and crafts show I will be a part of soon. I'm also very excited that it is October and I'm looking forward to the fall (even if it's warmer than summertime around here).

Celebrating 10 Years

My parent's church is celebrating their 10th anniversary on Sunday. I was asked to paint a sign for the celebration, and this is what I did. Pretty easy, nothing too fancy, hopefully what they wanted! I'll try to get pictures of it up at the celebration too.

I had to use the whole length of our family room to make it the right size. My little one woke up right as I was finishing, so that's her waaaay down at the end (smile).

And, up close, just because she's cute. After naps she always has those little tired eyes. So sweet. Ha.

We've got sort of a crazy week ahead, but I'll be back with more commissioned art, art and craft show news, and new prints in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for reading!

{Your Space} Aniston's Room

You probably all recall that my sister had another baby girl a few weeks ago, and before little miss Aniston was born I did a couple of paintings for her room. This space is so cute. The main wall is a dark chocolate brown, but there are big windows that make the whole room feel light and airy. All the bright colors ~~probably~~ for sure help with that too!

Daniel and I have been talking a lot about getting back to art for the sake of creating and less for the sake of having a product to sell... I'm feeling a little antsy to get some time for painting just to paint. I guess we'll see if I can make that happen soon! Ellie's nap schedule has been a little strange lately, so nothing is predictable anymore. Can't seem to make any plans! Oh, well. Such is the life of a mama (and I really love being her mom)!

Just came across this adorable blog with amazing prints and so many other fun things! I feel like we do sorta similar work, only mine is paint and hers is digital. Either way, we have worked with some of the same scriptures. I absolutely love her interpretations.

I painted these for my friend's sweet little girl. They chose Psalm 34:8 (which is a great verse, plus it has their baby girl's name in it). The colors and the birds mimic the bedding and the curtains. I love the combo of the art with the bedding and the totally different wall color in this space!

We've been fighting colds around here, so I haven't been painting much (I usually paint while Ellie sleeps, but the last few days I've been napping too! I must need it). Hopefully I will have more to show you soon!

So many babies! This is for some other friends who had a sweet baby girl a couple months ago. They knew they wanted this text and green, blue, yellow and pink somehow. I had fun coming up with ways to use all the colors they wanted - dandelions and a dragonfly were the result!

This is one of my favorite coffee paintings... here it is in a comfy family room! I love that it looks so good with the wall color and brings a little pop of color to an otherwise fairly neutral space.

My sweet friend Brittany has walked through a ton of trials in recent years but I have seen her walk through them with such grace, strength and dignity. Her most recent victory was graduating from college, so of course we had to celebrate! I painted this as a gift for her.

She chose the verse and I picked colors that are similar to the colors I used when I painted a flower on her grad cap. Thanks for letting me make this for you! Love you, Britt.

Baby Sadie

Little Miss Sadie arrived a couple of months ago, and this is the verse her parents chose for her. Some versions say "God is my strength" but they chose "God is my ROCK" and I like that! They wanted pink, green and yellow but not the typical baby pastels, so I had fun making this bright and cheery. I kept it simple but added some stitching around the name for a little bit of interest and color.

My new niece Aniston is set to arrive next Friday and our whole family can barely contain our excitement! We love babies, but we especially love OUR babies (what, my nephews and nieces are mine too, aren't they?). My sister has been nesting like crazy and one of the last touches in the baby's room is this painting I've been working on...

I'm so happy to have it done before Aniston arrives, and now my sis can rest easy knowing every last detail is in place. I cannot wait to meet this little one!

{New Home} Pink&Orange

This painting has found a new home with some sweet friends of mine. I have had it for years and hadn't had the heart to let it go until recently. It started out as a blue painting above my bunk during my sophomore year of college, and it morphed into these colors along the way. It's one of those that sort of has sentimental value, so I'm so glad I know it's gone to a good "home."

My sweet friend Victoria made me this Anthropologie inspired necklace! She used the sweetest yellow fabric - it is perfect for summer and I just love it.

She brought my necklace in a little brown bag tied with an adorable handmade headband for my daughter!

Ellie isn't too sure about headbands in general, but I think she looks SO sweet in this one.

Happy Spots

Rachel at Smile and Wave did this fun post a while ago about happy places in her home. I read it then and took photos, but I'm just now getting around to posting these... I just love our little house and even though we've been here a year I'm still having fun changing things up and making it ours.

I switched up an art wall to be a family photo wall a month ago and I LOVE how it turned out. I am so pleased with it.

This corner of our family room is so relaxing - our big chair and a half from Crate and Barrel, a few of Daniel's amazing photos, pillow covers with Grandma's vintage fabric, and our yellow armoire (We got it a few months ago that makes me so happy. Yellow isn't really in the color scheme of our home but I'm starting to incorporate it a little bit... and it just makes me happy).

Lastly, who doesn't love their bed?? Seriously one of the best parts of my day is climbing in bed. We got this awesome duvet from Anthro awhile back (it took some convincing the hub, but he went for it) and I'm so glad!

Originality vs. Authenticity

I've been struggling a little bit with the idea that art is becoming less meaningful, less technical, less original... My husband and I were just talking last night about how it seems like art is being stretched to its limits and things that were never considered art before now "count." As someone who studied art in school it's tough for me to see people without any training become well-known for something like slapping some color on a canvas (which in my mind, anyone can do) or taking a photo that just happened to turn out really well. It seems like any ideas I have have already been done, or anyone can re-create any idea they really like. And it seems like more and more the DIY world is making art irrelevant or washed out or ineffective...

Lo and behold I popped over to No Small Dreams this morning and read this:

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. A new baby girl will arrive in 4 weeks and we are so excited!! My sis has commissioned me every time she has a baby to paint the name for their nursery, so I just recently finished this for my newest niece on the way - Aniston Rae. My sister and brother-in-law have decided that all their kids names will end in "ton" so Aniston goes with that theme and is just super cute and unique.

I'm working on another painting for her nursery as well as about 10 (!) other paintings, so be on the lookout for new work coming soon!

I've just finished reading a book called Cold Tangerines and one of the last chapters was about the need for art and creating. I just really liked parts of it - good reminders and good encouragement, especially when I don't exactly make the time to be creative these days.

"I know that life is busy and hard, and that there’s crushing pressure to just settle down and get a real job and khaki pants and a haircut. But don’t. Please don’t. Please keep believing that life can be better, brighter, broader, because of the art that you make. Please keep demonstrating the courage that it takes to swim upstream in a world that prefers putting away for retirement to putting pen to paper, that chooses practicality over poetry, that values you more for going to the gym than going to the deepest places in your soul. Please keep making art for people like me, people who need the magic and imagination and honesty of great art to make the day-to-day world a little more bearable...

So to all the secret writers, late-night painters, would- be singers, lapsed and scared artists of every stripe, dig out your paintbrush, or your flute, or your dancing shoes. Pull out your camera or your computer or your pottery wheel. Today, tonight, after the kids are in bed or when your homework is done, or instead of one more video game or magazine, create something, anything.

Pick up a needle and thread, and stitch together something particular and honest and beautiful, because we need it. I need it.

I am embarrassed to say that I finally gave my cousin and her husband their wedding present after WAY too long. I was in m first trimester of pregnancy when they got married so the painting just totally stopped. Then we moved, then the baby came, then I was adjusting to being a mommy... needless to say, there are no excuses for how long it took. It literally became a housewarming present. HA! But, I must say I am SO happy with way it turned out. I almost wanted to keep it for myself, but alas, I did not.

The words are from the song played at their wedding ceremony "The Weight" by Thrice. Happy Marriage/Anniversary/Housewarming Matt and Tay! Love you guys.

Hi all!

I know I've told you about my husband's photography before, but we have a few recent updates! For awhile he was just doing black and white landscapes (which are incredible), but he is expanding his business to editorial photos now as well. This includes (but isn't limited to) businesses, business and personal events, family and children, and environmental or activity photographs. He just took some amazing photos for a local donut shop - be sure to check them out!

He also opened an etsy shop! He has posters for sale as well as prints framed in old barn wood. Pretty awesome, I must say. I'm so proud. I'm also pretty inspired to get my own etsy shop up and running because I have a lot of paintings ready to sell... keep you eyes peeled for updates on that soon too.

I stopped posting for a while because I wasn't painting anymore, and then once I started painting again I just felt lame to post anything other than pictures of paintings. I put this little guy together a couple of weeks ago and I actually think it's pretty cute! It's for a new baby's room so I made the text sort of "young" looking rather than flowy and fancy. It was commissioned by someone who found my work through tumblr - so random. It's always fascinating to hear how people find my blog.

How have you all been? Life around here has been busy and crazy and the world just keeps spinning... I'm feeling ready for a retreat from it all - no phone, internet, crazy news or sad stories - sometimes it's all just too much. I really do love life as a mommy, though, and I'm really enjoying this stage in our little family of 3. As time permits I'll have a few new paintings to show you in the next few weeks, so stay tuned!

After years of putting it off, my sweet Gram decided to put my Grandpa in an assisted living facility this week. He has dementia and she just can't take care of him on her own anymore. Our whole family is going through a lot of different emotions - relief that she's getting help, sadness that things won't be the same, hope that it will be a good situation, fear that it won't... Anyway, Gram asked me for a painting (and Daniel for a photo) so we can make the walls of Pa's room a little less bare. I've been working on this the last couple of days and we're taking it to him today.

What a great reminder... His love never fails, his mercies are new every morning, His faithfulness is greater than we'll ever know, and in that, we can have hope!

Welp, here they are. Finally some art work on this art blog! It's been too long. I'm pretty excited about these little owls - I still have to get them hung up with a few other things in Ellie's room, but then I'll for sure show you the final final product.

Like I've said before, Ellie's room has a slight owl theme. We didn't do it on purpose, and you wouldn't really notice it unless you are a detail kind of person. You don't walk in a hear "OWL THEME!" screaming at you, if you know what I mean (although some themed stuff really is adorable).

I couldn't resist this cute owl at Pier 1 and my sis got us a cute owl blanket/burp rag/jammie set (that's the blanket you see rolled up in the crib). My sweet husband is the one who pointed out that her bedding has leaves on it... just like trees, which owls live in. See? Owl theme on accident!

I found this cute little bird cage in the Micheal's dollar bin and put in it some little booties that were passed down from Ellie's grandma.

I won this gingiber print at Smile and Wave a few months back and was SO excited when I received it in the mail because the little animal number cards pictured above were included as an extra (I'm still trying to figure out what to do with them, obvi).

Miss Ellie even has a little owl onesie that my college roommate handmade for her! She wanted to model is for you.

And since I'm so terrible at blogging these days, this post will come in 2 parts to be exciting... Tomorrow I'll show you the little owl paintings I finally finished for her room!

So I know owls are totally "in" right now, but before I realized how trendy they are, we already had a slight owl theme in Ellie's room. I'll share picture of that soon, but in the meantime I'm brainstorming for a couple little paintings I want to do for the room...

I only had about a half hour to draw while she napped, but it was sure a fun half hour! Hopefully I will have something more finished to show you soon! Happy Tuesday.

It's a Brand New Year

Ok, folks. Time to get serious. It's a new year and Art By Britt is going to look much different this year than it did last year, but I need to get my buns in gear! If you've e-mailed me ~~in the last 3 months~~ recently, I just got back to you this morning (check your inbox)!

I'm ready to start painting again... and while it will without a doubt take me much longer than it used to because of my job as mommy to my little ladybug, I'm excited to work on my commissioned projects list as well as a few other things that are floating around in my head.

And because blog posts are so much better with pictures, here are a few recent favs...

Again (and again), thank you so much for your patience and support as I figure out my new normal. We're really feeling much more settled as parents and as California residents, so I think it will be much easier to get into an art routine once again. A different art routine, but an art routine none the less. Keep your eyes peeled for new project photos coming soon!
